Only three submissions have currently tested positive for L96: Brock (1), Ellis (1) and Gontaut (1). The Roberts surname appears to dominate the higher fingerprnt matches and has not been tested to date (except for the Brock submission found in the Roberts Project). Candidates for L96 testing (in order of testing priority and decreasing odds of testing positive) include:
1) Several of the fourteen Roberts submissions should be tested. (see L96 DNA Results spreadsheet for details). Only those submissions that do not descend from a common oldest proven genealogical ancestors should be tested. Also, both Griffith submissions should be tested unless they both descend from a common oldest proven genealogical ancestor.
2) In the transitional area, all seven submissions should be tested (see the L96 DNA Results spreadsheet). These submissions are key in determining the true breadth of L96 and key to verifying key marker values that are associated with L96.
3) There are another 23 submissions with 6 of 11 matches. Most of these will test negative but these tests greatly assist in the determining the true breadth of L96 as well as key markers that are associated with L96. Priority should be given to ANAH3 (Stephens) and W5EN7 (Sexton) since these submission match the key marker value of YCA-IIa <= 18. See the L96 DNA Results spreadsheet for more details.
Only test for those candidates that are highlighted in green, turquoise or yellow. The higher on the spreadsheet, the more likely of testing positive for L96.
