Testing Candidate Recommendatons (March, 2013)

Candidates for L1308 testing (in order of testing priority and decreasing odds of testing positive) include:

1) For the fingerprint L1308, all testing candidates above 70 % should be tested - unless multiple submissions descend from the same oldest proven ancestor. With future additional test results available, additional fine tuning of the existing fingerprint will be required. See the L1308 spreadsheet summary under the DNA Results tab for a listing of the 63 testing candidates. Lower fingerprint matches are recommended: Hasty (50823), Robertson (141711), Mangum (102526), Reese (89168) and Hafken (162035) are key submissions that should be tested.

2) For fingerprint matches between 50 and 70 %, testing is recommended until the true scope of L1308 is determined by more testing and fine tuning of the L1308 fingerprint. The 138 testing candidates found should be considered more specualitve in nature but many may test positive if the scope of L1308 tests broader than anticipated. Those that match 6 of 9 and have the marker value of 439 > 14 are key testing candidates: Brown (84850), Farrell (123181), Jones (88386) and Reese (106496).

Only test for those candidates that are highlighted in green, blue or yellow. The higher on the spreadsheet, the more likely of testing positive for L1308. Since the L1308 fingerprint is only based three positive tests with high fingerprint matches, the fingerprint is currently more speculative in nature and will probably require fine tuning with additional testing.
