SUMMARY OF SNP - March, 2013

Classification of SNP: Small to medium branch. Son of Z253. Status to other recent Z253 SNPs is not well tested to date (see ISOGG qualification summary below). The fingerprint marker values that are part of the L1308 fingerprint are speculative and assumes that the scope of L1308 is somewhat limited (439 >= 16, 607 >= 16 and 395S1a >= 16). The counts were quite low for these three marker values and could be post-L1308 mutations which could be branches after L1308 creation. This analysis is speculative in nature since only three positive tests and seven negative tests are known.

Speculative preliminary estimated breadth of SNP. The eventual scope could more than double in size depending on 439, 607 and 395S1a mutations possibly being post L1308: 31 = 9 x 95 % (9 of 9) + 5 x 90 % (8 of 9) + 3 x 80 % (7 of 9) + 57 x 20 % (6 of 9) + 81 x 5 % (5 of 9).

Dominant Surnames (positive): Many surnames.

Date that SNPs were discovered: October, 2012.

Source of SNP: FTDNA - WTY testing FTDNA ID6879, Y-Search ID GNEQQ, Surname Mangum.

Number of Positive Tests (67 markers): Only three known.

Number of Broad Negative Tests: Only seven known.

Number of Negative Tests within Fingerprints (higher than 70 %): None.

Pending Tests (within Fingerprint): Probably one or two.

TRENDS OF TESTING CANDIDATES

L1308 Fingerprint

Note that the number of known testing candidates appears to be fairly typical for L21 SNPs where the number of testing candidates declines down to 70 % matches and then sees a sharp rise as non-L1308 submissions dominate the under 50 % matches. This trend suggests probable overlap of L1308 submissions with non-L1308 submissions at lower fingerprint matches. L1308 will probably test positive for most submissions down to 70 % matches, have primarily negative test results with 50 to 70 % matches and then test only negative for below 50 % matches:

ISOGG Status - Prove relationship of L1308 to other L21 SNPs

Requirements of proving L1308 position on the ISOGG haplotree have not been met. Note that only L226, L554 and L1066 are currently included on the ISOGG haplotree, all other SNPs have unknown relationships to L1308 and are not required for ISOGG qualification currently.

ISOGG Status - Prove genetic and surname diversity of L1308

L1308 does not satisfy either the 15 % genetic diversity requirement or the surname diversity requirement for inclusion on the ISOGG haplotree. Two submissions of L1308 must have at least a genetic distance of 10 (15 % x 67 markers = 10). Only one submission has tested positive to date.
