JAMES STEVENSON, II (71.4) is the son of James Stevenson and Sarah (Kelly) Stevenson.  James was born on May 27, 1760 in Maryland.  On September 1, 1781, James Stephenson, II married Jane Stevenson.  Jane is the daughter of John Stevenson.  According to the 1892 sketch, Jane had a brother, John Stevenson, and that Jane’s mother was a Thompson whose family moved to Georgia after the Revolutionary War.  James Stevenson, II entered land above Cowans or the South Yadkin River in 1777.  James and Jane Stevenson were the parents of ten children:

Jane (Stevenson) Stevenson died in 1814 and James Stevenson, II died on September 3, 1828 in Iredell County, North Carolina.  Both were buried in the Vashti Cemetery.  Jane Stevenson married William Elder.  Hannah Stevenson married James Lackey.  Sarah Stevenson married John Templeton.  Nancy Stevenson married Jeptha Wallace.

CLARINDA STEPHENSON (71.4.2.1.1) is the daughter of Martin Luther Stephenson and Rebecca (Bowles) Stephenson.  Clarinda was born on June 14, 1830 in North Carolina.  Clarinda Stephenson married James Parks Gwaltney and Phoebe (Mayberry) Gwaltney.  James was born in 1827 in North Carolina and is the son of William Gaither Gwaltney.  James and Clarinda Gwaltney were the parents of six children:

In 1850, James and Mira Gortney were living Clarinda’s parents in Alexander County, North Carolina.  In 1870, many of the children of James and Clarinda Gwaltney were living with Clarinda’s parents.  After the death of James Parks Gwaltney, Clarinda married a second time to William Baker (born 1841, North Carolina).  William and Clarinda Baker were the parents of three children:

     Jay Van Baker, 1870, North Carolina
     Robert Lee Baker, 1873, North Carolina

In 1880, William and Clarinda Baker were living in Alexander County, North Carolina.  Clarinda (Stephenson) Baker died on April 5, 1911 and was buried in the Old Stevenson Cemetery in Vashti, Alexander County, North Carolina.  Flora Gwaltney married W. C. Beckman.  Malinda May Gwaltney married Arthur Judson Greene.  Arthur Greene was born on January 7, 1854.  Arthur Greene died on February 21, 1921 and Malinda (Gwaltney) Greene died on May 14, 1938.  Arthur and Malinda Greene were buried in Shady Grove Cemetery in Alexander County, North Carolina.  Emma Gwaltney died young when she was killed accidently by a sword in the hands of a neighbor.  Sarah Evalin Gwaltney married Watson Lackey.

LEROY PARKS GWALTNEY (71.4.2.1.1.1) is the son of James Parks Gwaltney and Clarinda (Stephenson) Gwaltney.  Parks was born on November 3, 1848 in North Carolina.  Parks Gwaltney was a minister.  Parks Gwaltney and his wife, Martha E. Gwaltney (born 1855, North Carolina), were the parents of at least four children:

WALTER SCOTT STEPHENSON (71.4.2.3.5.2) is the son of James Philo Stephenson and Josephine Elvira (McLain) Stephenson.  Walter was born on July 15, 1884 in Alexander County, North Carolina.  On October 11, 1914, Walter Stephenson married Laura Blanche McLain (71.4.5.3.7.3.1).  Laura was born on January 2, 1895 in North Carolina and is the daughter of Charles Avery McLain and Lula Mae McLain.  Walter and Laura Stephenson were the parents of eight children:

In 1920, Walter and Laura Stephenson were living in Alexander County, North Carolina.  Walter S. Stephenson died on December 16, 1953 and Laura (McLain) Stephenson died on July 17, 1985.  Both were buried in the Linney Grove Cemetery in Alexander County, North Carolina.  David R. Stephenson was killed in World War II on May 7, 1942.  He was killed on a destroyer during the Coral Sea battle.  David R. Stephenson was buried in the Linney Grove Cemetery.  The infant child of Walter and Laura Stephenson (b. January 12, 1917) died the same day that the child was born and was buried in the Linney Grove Cemetery.  The infant daughter of Walter and Laura Stephenson (b. December 19, 1917) died the same day that the child was born and was buried in the Linney Grove Cemetery.  Dixie Stephenson died as a child of pneumonia on May 28, 1932 and was buried in the Linney Grove Cemetery.  Bessie Stephenson married Edward Menis and they have two children:  -  Dennis Menis (died in a hunting accident),  -  Steve Menis (who married a woman named Louise).  Gates Stephenson died in an auto accident on September 2, 1960 and was buried in the Linney Grove Cemetery.  Charles Stephenson married Virginia Dare Foxe.  Charles Stephenson died on March 28, 1968 of cancer and was buried in the Linney Grove Cemetery.

STEPHENSON (71.4.3.3) is the son of John Stephenson and Jane (McDonald) Stephenson.  Amos was born in 1811 in North Carolina.  Amos Stephenson married Priscilla Owen King (born 1824 in Ohio).  In 1850, Amos and Priscilla Stephenson were living in Wabash County, Indiana.  In 1850, Amos was listed a tavern keeper.  Amos and Priscilla Stephenson were the parents of seven children:

CLINTON BENTON STEPHENSON (71.4.3.3.2) is the son of Amos T. Stephenson and Priscilla Owen (King) Stephenson.  Clinton was born in August, 1845 in Indiana.  Clinton Stephenson married Ada Preston (born September, 1850 in New York).  Clinton and Ada Stephenson were the parents of one child:

In 1900, Clinton and Ada Stephenson were living in St. Joseph County, Indiana.  Bertha Stephenson married Edward M. Roche and they had two children:  -  Vivian Roche, b. Indiana,  -  Preston Roche, b. Indiana.  Vivian Roche married C. S. Ryan and they have one daughter:  -  Yvonne Ryan.  Vivian married a second time to a Mr. Smith.  Preston Roche and his wife, Eleanor Roche, have two children:  -  Stephie Roche, b. 1949, Indiana,  -  Michel Roche, b. 1951, Indiana.

ADELBERT ALBERT STEPHENSON (71.4.3.3.4) is the son of Amos T. Stephenson and Priscilla Owen (King) Stephenson.  Adelbert was born in 1852.  Adelbert Stephenson married Mary Miller and they were the parents of five children:

Adelbert Stephenson died in 1906.  Edna Stephenson married Roy T. Urquhart and they have one son:  -  Donald S. BURR CHARLES STEPHENSON (71.4.3.3.5) is the son of Amos T. Stephenson and Priscilla Owen (King) Stephenson.  Burr was born in 1855.  Burr C. Stephenson married Florence D. Pridham (born June, 1860, Canada - English).  Burr and Florence Stephenson were the parents of four children:

HUGH McDONALD STEPHENSON (71.4.3.6) is the son of John Stephenson and Jane (McDonald) Stephenson.  Hugh was born in 1818 in North Carolina.  Hugh Stephenson married Marie J. Thomson (born 1825 in Kentucky).  Hugh and Marie Stephenson were the parents of six children:

From 1850 to 1860, Hugh and Marie Stephenson were living in Wabash County, Indiana.  In 1850, Hugh Stephenson was listed as the Sheriff of Wabash County, Indiana.  Ella Stephenson died in 1920.  Rome Stephenson married Ella Maxwell and they have two children:  -  Joseph M. Stephenson,  -  Hugh Robert Stephenson.  Rome Stephenson died in 1954.  Joseph M. Stephenson married Alice Summers.  Joseph Stephenson married a second time to Marjorie Sweet.

In 1880, William and Ella Stephenson were living in Wabash County, Indiana.  Clara Stephenson married Edward Clark.  Lulla Stephenson married a Mr. Lehman.  Elsie Stephenson married a Mr. Carrick.  Elsie married a second time to a Mr. Wilson.
