JOHN LEWIS SHELTON (1.5.2.2) is the son of Nathaniel Shelton and Martha Elizabeth (Potter) Shelton.  John was born on May 7, 1862 in Jackson County, Alabama.  John Shelton married Harriet Latham (20.1.8.10).  Harriet was born on May 14, 1865 in Alabama and is the daughter of Thomas Latham and Nancy Jane (Harper) Latham.  Harriets sister, Miley, married Johnathan B. Hall (15.5.1).  Harriets sister, Pluma, married James Potter (15.1.13).  Harriets sister, Mary, married John Franklin Shelton (1.5.9).  John and Harriet Shelton were the parents of at least five children:

Selby had no children.  Irene Selby married a Mr. Adams and they had four children.  Woodrow Selby married Eva L. Shelton (1.5.5.11.1) and they had one child.  Dessie Mae Selby died having no children.  Nellie Harriett Selby had one son.  Pauline Selby had one daughter.  Roy Selby married Evelyn Parrott (born September 4, 1917) and they had three daughters.  Manley Pete Selby had two children.

RICHARD FERMAN SHELTON (1.5.2.2.4) is the daughter of John Lewis Shelton and Harriet (Latham) Shelton.  Richard was born on September 3, 1889 in Jackson County, Alabama.  On November 22, 1908, Richard Shelton married Carrie M. Lusk in Jackson County, Alabama.  Carrie was born in 1897 in Alabama.  Richard and Carrie Shelton were the parents of at least four children:

ALBERT THOMAS SHELTON (1.5.2.5) is the son of Nathaniel Shelton and Martha Elizabeth (Potter) Shelton.  Albert was born in 1877 in Jackson County, Alabama.  On September 13, 1893, Albert Shelton married Celia Elizabeth Betty West.  Celia was born on January 30, 1875 and is the daughter of John Kimsey West and Amanda Caroline (Seabolt) West.  Celias father, John Kimsey West married a second time to Sarah Malinda Shelton (1.5.12).  Albert and Celia Shelton were the parents of at least two children:

WILLIAM THOMAS “SHORTY” SHELTON (1.5.2.5.2.1) is the son of Thomas William Shelton and Leena (Peacock) Shelton.  William was born on October 27, 1918.  On July 16, 1938, William T. Shelton married Inez Sharp in Jackson County, Alabama.  Inez was born on July 16, 1922 and is the daughter of Joel Sharp and Rachel (Carden) Sharp.  William and Inez Shelton were the parents of at least two children:

Billy Jack Shelton married Carolyn Lusk (1.5.4.7.6.3).  Carolyn was born on April 24, 1945 and is the daughter of Richard Howard Lusk and Minnie Ruth (Cornelison) Lusk.  Billy and Carolyn Shelton have two children:  -  Terresa Gail Shelton, b. ca. 1966,  -  Paris K. On January 8, 1966, Virginia Shelton married Larry Delan Roberts.  Larry was born on November 25, 1947 and is the son of Samuel Lamar Roberts and Nancy Geneva (Wilks) Roberts.  On December 10, 1970, Virginia Shelton married a second time to Ira Calvin Little.  Ira was born on June 8, 1946 and is the son of Tate Little and Dovie Alma (Wilson) Little.

DAVID SHELTON (1.5.3) is the son of William Shelton and Martha (Pace) Shelton.  David was born on February 19, 1840 in Alabama.  On October 11, 1860, David Shelton married Mary Phillips (born 1841 in Alabama) in Jackson County, Alabama.  David and Mary Shelton were the parents of at least ten children:

From 1870 to 1910, David and Mary Shelton were living in Jackson County, Alabama.  In 1910, several of David and Mary Sheltons children were living with them:  Mary, Lilly, John, Sarah, Ann and Matthew.  In 1920, David Shelton was living in Jackson County, Alabama.  David Shelton died on March 12 1923 and was buried in the Gold Grove Yard Cemetery (located on the Cumberland Mountain) in Jackson County, Alabama.  In 1923, Malinda Shelton was living in Jackson County, Alabama.  Malinda Linda Shelton never married.  Amos Shelton was killed by a cousin in a hunting accident when he was a teenager.  On June 30, 1895, John Shelton married Ida Smith in Jackson County, Alabama but they were later separated.  In 1910, John Shelton was living with his father in Jackson County, Alabama.  On March 2, 1896, Trona Shelton married Andy J. Talkington in Jackson County, Alabama and was living in Jackson County, Alabama in 1923.

LILLY ELLEN SHELTON (1.5.3.2) is the daughter of David Shelton and Mary (Phillips) Shelton.  Ellen was born on October 29, 1865 in Jackson County, Alabama.  On July 28, 1889, Ellen Shelton married William “Bill” Tidwell at Ellens fathers house in Jackson County, Alabama.  Bill and Ellen Tidwell had three children:

  Ida M. Tidwell, b. June, 1892, Jackson County, Alabama
  Martha V. Tidwell, b. April, 1894, Jackson County, Alabama

Bill Tidwell died between 1894 and 1900 and was buried in the Blue Spring Cove Cemetery in Jackson County, Alabama.  From 1900 to 1920, Lilly was living with her father, David Shelton, in Jackson County, Alabama.  In 1923, Ellen (Shelton) Tidwell was still living in Jackson County, Alabama.  Lilly Ellen (Shelton) Tidwell died on August 7, 1936 and was buried in the Blue Spring Cove Cemetery in Jackson County, Alabama.  Sherman Tidwell had four children.  Ida Tidwell married Samuel S. Pace (15.9.1.3).  Martha Tidwell married Dalton Frazier and they had no children.  Dalton was born in February of 1889 and is the son of James W. Frazier and Margaret (Isbell) Frazier.  Dalton’s brother, Albert Samuel Frazier, married Mary Manoah Shelton (1.5.5.5).  Dalton and Martha Tidwell were buried at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Jackson County, Alabama.

MARTHA SHELTON (1.5.3.4) is the daughter of David Shelton and Mary (Phillips) Shelton.  Martha was born on October 23, 1870 in Jackson County, Alabama.  On February 1, 1894, Martha Shelton married Joseph Van Davis in Larkinsville, Alabama.  Joseph was born on January 28, 1874 in Tennessee and is the son of William G. C. Davis (born 1847) and America Josephine (McFarland) Davis (born 1850).  Joseph and Martha Davis were the parents of four children:

In 1900, Joseph and Martha Davis were living in Franklin County, Tennessee.  Martha (Shelton) Davis was a school teacher.  Martha (Shelton) Davis died on December 29, 1905 in Franklin County, Tennessee and was buried there in the New Brick Church Cemetery.  On December 31, 1907, Joseph Davis married a second time to Martha “Mattie” Emaline (Pedigo) Ladd (born March 8, 1871, Dekalb County, Tennessee) in Coffee County, Tennessee and they had no children.  Mattie (Pedigo) Davis died on March 3, 1941 in Manchester, Tennessee and was buried in the Center Grove Cemetery near Center Grove, Tennessee.  Joseph Van Davis died on September 18, 1960 in Prairie Plains, Tennessee and was buried next to his first wife, Martha (Shelton) Davis, in the New Brick Church Cemetery in Franklin County, Tennessee.  In 1923, Van and Pearl Davis were living in Tullahoma, Tennessee.  Van Davis never married.  Van Davis disappeared around 1930 and his whereabouts after this time are not known.

MARTHA JOSEPHINE DAVIS (1.5.3.4.1) is the daughter of Joseph Van Davis and Martha (Shelton) Davis..  Martha was born on October 31, 1894 in Franklin County, Tennessee.  On September 11, 1911, Martha Davis married James Monroe Pedigo in Coffee County, Tennessee.  James was born on October 21, 1872 in Dekalb County, Tennessee and is the son of William Richard Pedigo (born 1842) and Mary Eliza (Buckner) Pedigo (b. 1851).  James was previously married to Betty Carr and they had two children: Clarence Pedigo and Grace Pedigo.  James and Martha Pedigo were the parents of five children:

  Zetta Erlene Pedigo (1.5.3.4.1.2), b. January 9, 1915, Coffee County, Tennessee

James Pedigo died on October 5, 1944 in Manchester, Tennessee and was buried in the New Brick Church Cemetery in Franklin County, Tennessee.  From the mid 1940s to the mid 1980s, Martha (Davis) Pedigo lived in Muncie, Indiana.  Martha (Davis) Pedigo died on January 22, 1989 in Manchester, Tennessee and was buried in the New Brick Church Cemetery in Franklin County, Tennessee.  Hubert Pedigo served in the United States Army, Battery C, 433rd Field Artillery Batallion during World War II.  Hubert Pedigo died on September 15, 1949 in Muncie, Indiana and was buried in the Elm Ridge Cemetery in Muncie, Indiana.

DAISY ALVENE PEDIGO (1.5.3.4.1.1) is the daughter of James Monroe Pedigo and Martha Josephine (Davis) Pedgo.  Daisy was born on January 9, 1913 in Normandy, Tennessee.  On December 25, 1930, Daisy Pedigo married Hervie Houston Taylor.  Hervie was born on February 22, 1911 in Grundy County, Tennessee and is the son of Drew L. Taylor and Celia Ann (Lynn) Taylor.  Hervie and Daisy Taylor were the parents of two children:

  Hervie Eugene Taylor, b. September 12, 1939

Hervie Taylor died on January 23, 1990 in Manchester, Tennessee and was buried in the Mount Zion Cemetery in Warren County, Tennessee.  James Taylor married Elizabeth Finney.  James Taylor married a second time to Gladys Yvonne Lucas.  James Taylor died on October 25, 1993.  Hervie E. Taylor married  to woman named Thelma Jean.  On December 25, 1965, Hervie Taylor married a second time to Melinda Lou Allen.  Hervie E. Taylor died on January 30, 1995.

ZETTA ERLENE PEDIGO (1.5.3.4.1.2) is the daughter of James Monroe Pedigo and Martha Josephine (Davis) Pedgo.  Zetta was born on January 9, 1915 in Coffee County, Tennessee.  On November 11, 1933, Zetta Pedigo married Charles Winton Meadows in Coffee County, Tennessee.  Charles was born on July 21, 1902 in Coffee County, Tennessee and is the son of William G. Meadows and Fannie (Winton) Meadows.  Charles and Zetta Meadows were the parents of five children:

  Martha June Meadows, b. February 20, 1934
  Dorothy Anita “Ann” Meadows, b. July 11, 1935
  Jimmy Wayne Meadows, b. June 14, 1941
  Charles Edward Meadows, b. March 10, 1948

Charles Meadows died on February 22, 1989 in Manchester, Tennessee and Zetta (Pedigo) Meadows has died.  Both were buried in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery east of Hillsboro, Tennessee.  Martha Meadows married Fred Parkhurst and they live in Nashville, Tennessee.  Dorothy Meadows married Robert Broadway and they live in Canooga Park, Califonia.

LAURA BELLE PEDIGO (1.5.3.4.1.3) is the daughter of James Monroe Pedigo and Martha Josephine (Davis) Pedgo.  Laura was born on January 29, 1918 in Coffee County, Tennessee.  On October 31, 1939, Laura Pedigo married Ernest Eugene Williams.  Ernest was born on December 12, 1912 in Morrison, Tennessee.  Ernest and Laura Williams were the parents of three children:

  Richard Eugene Williams
  Beverly Ann Williams
  Michelle Rene Williams

Ernest served as a private first class in Company C of the 393rd Infantry Regiment during World War II.  Ernest was an electrician.  Ernest Williams died on June 29, 1966 and Laura (Pedigo) Williams has died.  Both were buried in the Elm Ridge Cemetery in Muncie, Indiana.  Richard Williams married a woman named Twila.

DENNIS ROWLAND PEDIGO (1.5.3.4.1.4) is the son of James Monroe Pedigo and Martha Josephine (Davis) Pedgo.  Dennis was born on  January 5, 1921 in Coffee County, Tennessee.  On May 23, 1953, Dennis Pedigo married Mary Maxine Lowry in Muncie, Indiana.  Mary was born on June 26, 1925 in Redkey, Indiana and is the daughter of Orie Edmund Lowry (born 1898) and Mabel Josephine (Champ) Lowry (born 1901).  Dennis and Mary Pedigo were the parents of one son:

  Jon Bradley Pedigo, b. January 19, 1966

Dennis Pedigo was a private first class in the 509th Parachute Infantry during World War II and fought in the battles near Rome and Arno, Italy, southern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe.  Dennis was decorated with the Bronze Star, Purple Heart with oak leaf cluster and many other decorations.  Dennis Pedigo was a structural steel fitter and Mary (Lowry) Pedigo was a cost accountant.  Mary (Lowry) Pedigo died on December 15, 1977 in Muncie, Indiana and Dennis Pedigo died on March 22, 1986 in Muncie, Indiana.  Both were buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Maxville, Indiana.

MINERVA JANE DAVIS (1.5.3.4.2) is the daughter of Joseph Van Davis and Martha (Shelton) Davis.  Minerva was born on September 7, 1898 in Coffee County, Tennessee.  Minerva Davis married John Preston Pedigo.  John was born on October 24, 1881 in Dekalb County, Tennessee and is the son of William Richard Pedigo (born 1842) and Mary Eliza (Buckner) Pedigo (born 1851).  John’s brother, James Monroe Pedigo, married Minerva’s sister, Martha Josephine Davis.  John and Minerva Pedigo were the parents of three children:

John Pedigo died on May 2, 1963 and Minerva (Davis) Pedigo died on May 20, 1972 in Hillsboro, Tennessee.  Both were buried in the New Brick Church Cemetery in Franklin County, Tennessee.  On May 11, 1946, Joseph Pedigo married Nell Newman.  Joseph Pedigo died on May 18, 1992.  Mary Pedigo married Robert Spicer.  Mary married a second time to Stephen Perry.  John M. Pedigo married Dorotha Long.

PEARL ELLEN DAVIS (1.5.3.4.4) is the daughter of Joseph Van Davis and Martha (Shelton) Davis.  Pearl was born on September 27, 1903 in Coffee County, Tennessee.  Pearl Davis married John C. Wimberly (born February 28, 1898, Illinois).  John and Pearl Wimberly were the parents of five children:

Wimberly died on December 2, 1990.  Loyce Wimberly married a Mr. McCoy.  Louise Wimberly married a Mr. Pinegar.  Evelyn Wimberly married a Mr. Pinegar.  Bonnie Wimberly married a Mr. Travis.

SARAH ANN SHELTON (1.5.3.6) is the daughter of David Shelton and Mary (Phillips) Shelton.  Sarah was born on April 10, 1874 in Jackson County, Alabama.  On February 18, 1900, Sarah Ann Shelton married Martin Hastings.  Martin and Sarah Hastings were the parents of at least four children:

In 1912, Martin and Sarah Hastings moved to Limestone County, Texas.  Sarah (Shelton) Hastings died on July 26, 1931 and was buried in the Sardis Cemetery in Leon County, Texas.  Martin Hastings died on January 18, 1954 in Jewett, Texas.  Sarah Ellen Hastings died of a hemorahage on July 21, 1916 in Jewett, Texas and was buried in the Sardis Cemetery in Jewett, Texas.  Pete Hastings married Pearl Pendergrass.  Pete Hastings died in Houston, Texas.

JULIA BERTIE HASTINGS (1.5.3.6.3) is the son of Martin Hastings and Sarah Ann (Shelton) Hastings.  Julia was born on January 31, 1902 in Tennessee.  Julia Hastings married Willard Morris and they had no children.  Julia Hastings married a second time to Arles David Herren.  Arles was born on February 25, 1892 and is the son of Henry Johnston Herren (born 1862 in Alabama) and Mary O. Herren (born 1865).  Arles was previously married to Georgia Mullins and they had one son:  Artice Elwood “Bud” Herren (born October 4, 1915).  Arles and Julia Herren were the parents of ten children:

Julia (Hastings) Herron died of a stroke on February 10, 1953 in Mexia, Texas and Arles Herren died of a heart attack on February 1, 1955 in Jewett, Texas.  Davie Herren died as an infant on June 11, 1921 and was buried in the Sardis Cemetery in Jewett, Texas.  In 1942, Dorothy Herren married Clyde Roberts.  Dorothy married a second time to Bill Goolsby.  Dorothy married a third time to Andy Vincent.  Dorothy (Herren) Vincent died on December 9, 1921 and was buried in the Sardis Cemetery in Jewett, Texas.  In December, 1942, Ludie Herren married Sam E. Holmes.  Sam was born on December 7, 1907.  Sam Holmes died on March 7, 1970 and Ludie (Herren) Holmes died on December 23, 1975 in Jewett, Texas.  Both were buried in the Sardis Cemetery in Jewett, Texas.  Ruby Herren married Melvin Ponder.  In August of 1946, Wauline Harris married her cousin, Prentice Aubin “Dink” Herren.  Wauline (Herren) Herren died on October 1, 1985 in Houston, Texas and Prentice “Dink” Herren died on July 13, 1999 in Bryan, Texas.  Both were buried in the Wealthy Cemetery in Normangee, Texas.  Margaret Herron married Louis Joseph Humbert.  Louis was born on March 13, 1927.  Shortly before Louis was to retire, he was killed at work in an accident on July 18, 1989.  He was working on a piece of equipment that was hanging from a crane which fell and crushed him.  Margaret (Herren) Humbert died on January 6, 2001 in Houston, Texas and was buried at the Brookside Cemetery in Houston, Texas.

ESTHER RAY HERREN (1.5.3.6.3.6) is the daughter of Arles David Herren and Julia Bertie (Hastings) Herren.  Esther was born on June 9, 1929 in Jewett, Texas.  On November 18, 1946, Esther Herren married her cousin, Wiley Truett Herren in Palestine, Texas.  Wiley was born on December 24, 1919.  Wiley and Esther Herren are the parents of four children:

Harrington.  Wiley Herren, Jr. married Sharen Barrett and they were later divorced.  David Herren married Paula Frederick.  Bertha Herren married Donald “Donnie” Walker.  Thelma Clayton married Mark A. Hopkins and they later divorced.  Thelma married a second time to Scott Statum.

MATTHEW F. SHELTON (1.5.3.8) is the son of David Shelton and Mary (Phillips) Shelton.  Matthew was born on August 28, 1877 in Jackson County, Alabama.  On October 5, 1899, Matthew Shelton married Rosa A. Davis in Franklin County, Tennessee.  Rosa was born on July 15, 1881 in Alabama and is the daughter of William G. C. Davis and America Josephine (McFarland) Davis.  Rosa’s brother, Joseph Van Davis, married Matthew’s sister, Martha Shelton.  Matthew and Rosa Shelton were the parents of seven children:
