VIRGINIA IDA MANSANORA SHELTON (3.5) is the daughter of William Martin Shelton and Martha Adeline (Shelton) Shelton. Virginia was born on May 9, 1877 in Meg, Arkansas. On September 30, 1894, Virginia Shelton married Oscar David Foster in Webb City, Franklin County, Arkansas. Oscar was born on June 22, 1870 in DeKalb County, Tennessee and is the son of Stephen Moore Foster (born 1844, DeKalb County, Tennessee) and Mary Pearl (Patterson) Foster (b. 1844). Oscar and Virginia Foster were the parents of eight children:

In 1900, Oscar D. Foster and his family were living in Logan County, Arkansas. He taught school in Leona, Texas in 1910. Later, Oscar attended Medical School in Little Rock, Arkansas and was a practicing medical doctor in Fort Smith, Arkansas when he died. He bought a Maxwell car but was afraid to drive it. His oldest son, Webster Foster would drive it for him. Oscar Foster died of uremia on November 17, 1920 in Fort Smith, Arkansas and was buried there in the Oak Cemetery. After Oscar Fosters death, Virginia Foster rented rooms and took in boarders. She often worked as a midwife. She would make the baby clothes and a night gown for the mother, if needed. She would deliver the baby and stay two weeks to care for the mother and baby.
Virginia (Shelton) Foster married a second time to George Oscar Berry (born March 11, 1856). They lived near Wister, Oklahoma for a few years, then they moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma in 1938. George Oscar Berry died on April 3, 1944 and Virginia (Shelton) Berry died on July 13, 1951 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Both were buried in the Fairview Cemetery. Grover Cleveland Foster died on September 14, 1918 at the age of fourteen and was buried in the Oak Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Martin Stanley Shelton died on October 19, 1918 at the age of one year and was buried in the Oak Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

PEARL AGNES FOSTER (3.5.1) is the daughter of Oscar David Foster and Virginia (Shelton) Foster. Pearl was born on May 26, 1895 in Webb City, Arkansas. On June 26, 1920, Pearl Foster married Albert Grayson (no middle initial) in Sebastian County, Arkansas. Albert was born on January 21, 1894 in Bloomer, Arkansas and is the son of Enoch Boone Grayson and Rebecca Jane (Hughes) Grayson. Albert and Pearl Grayson were the parents of eight children:

Pearl (Foster) Grayson died on July 23, 1934 in Fort Smith, Arkansas and was buried there in the Oak Cemetery. In 1935, Albert Grayson married a second time to Ruby Tanner and they had three children: Robert Lee Grayson (born December 9, 1935 in Fort Smith, Arkansas), William Hugh Grayson (born July 11, 1938 in Fort Smith, Arkansas) and Donald David Grayson (born March 27, 1941 in Spiro, Oklahoma). Albert Grayson died on January 6, 1976 in San Jose, California and was buried in the Oak Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas. After World War II army service in Alaska, Albert Junior Grayson, Jr. worked in construction. Around 1948, while working on a dam project in Oregon, he was married and a daughter was born to that union. Junior and his wife separated around 1950. Junior has not had contact with other family members since the fall of 1952. Peggy Jo Grayson died on June 19, 1933 in Fort Smith, Arkansas and was buried beside her parents in the Oak Cemetery.

RALPH LAWRENCE GRAYSON (3.5.1.1) is the son of Albert Grayson and Pearl Agnes (Foster) Grayson. Ralph was born on April 29, 1921 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Ralph graduated from a Fort Smith high school in 1937. He attended Arkansas State Teachers College (now University of Central Arkansas) from 1939 to 1941 and while there, learned to fly in the Civilian Pilot Training Program. On December 6, 1941, Ralph Grayson married Jewell Juanita Best in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Juanita was attending Central Baptist College in Conway, Arkansas. Juanita resumed her college education at Memphis State University in 1965 through 1968 and was a teacher in the Memphis school system for five years primarily in the field of special education.
In 1941, Ralph was employed by the Civil Aeronautics Administration as an air traffic controller and worked in Charleston, South Carolina and Atlanta, Georgia. He went into service in July of 1944 and attended Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia. Ralph was commissioned as Second Lieutenant in April of 1945 and served in the Asiatic-Pacific theatre. He returned to Atlanta in October of 1946 and transferred to Memphis, Tennessee in March of 1947. Ralph and Jewell Grayson are the parents of four children:

In 1950, Ralph received a Bachelor of Law degree (cum laude) from Southern Law University and practiced law in Memphis for sixteen years. While practicing law, he continued his career with the Federal Aviation Administration and remained active in the United States Army Reserve from which he retired as a full colonel in December, 1978. Ralph also served as a national officer, including national president, of the Air Traffic Control Association from 1959 to 1968. In 1969, Ralph was selected to be one of twenty in the United States who implemented the automation of the air traffic control system during the period ending in 1979. In January of 1979, Ralph was offered a position as research scientist at N. A. S. A. Ames Research Center in Mountain View, California, which resulted in his retirement from F. A. A. and relocation to California for three and one-half years. In 1982, he returned to Memphis, Tennessee.
Ralph Grayson, Jr. graduated from Central High School in Memphis in 1959 as a National Merit Scholarship finalist. He was selected as the outstanding R. O. T. C. cadet in the city and was cadet Lieutenant Colonel. He attended Tulane University, Memphis State University and San Francisco State University. In 1963, Ralph Grayson married Helen Frances Frankie Whitington of Memphis. Ralph and Frankie Grayson both died in an auto collision on March 9, 1967 near Merced, California and were buried in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis, Tennessee.

DAVID BEST GRAYSON (3.5.1.1.2) is the son of Ralph Lawrence Grayson and Jewell Juanita (Best) Grayson. David was born on November 16, 1943 in Atlanta, Georgia. David attended Memphis State University. In 1963, David Grayson married Cheryl Green of Memphis and they have two children:

Davids career has been in sales and he is now President of Formfit-Rogers, Inc. Linda graduated from Whittier College and she is now merchandise manager for the eastern United States with the May Company. Both are headquartered in New York City.

For more than thiry years, Jim has worked as a steamfitter with much of his work at the Kennedy Space Center. Jim is now retired and lives in Edgewater, Florida. Virginia Lee Ginger Grayson received a bachelors degree from Florida State University and has taught elementary school in Florida and in the Atlanta, Georgia area for several years. While teaching in Atlanta, Ginger received a Masters degree and the Education Specialist degree from the Georgia University system. Ginger lives in Austell, Georgia.

HOWARD EUGENE GRAYSON (3.5.1.4) is the son of Albert Grayson and Pearl Agnes (Foster) Grayson. Howard was born on April 29, 1927 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. After army service during World War II, Howard attended Arkansas Tech at Russellville, Arkansas for two years and then received a bachelors degree from the University of Central Arkansas at Conway in 1951. In 1955, he received a masters degree from Memphis State University. Additional graduate work was pursued at East Tennessee University at Johnson City and at the University of Tennessee. Howard worked for the Internal Revenue Service for twenty-five years until his retirement in 1979. On December 6, 1986, Howard Grayson married Jane A. Hardt at the Fairfax Chapel, Fort Belvoir, Virginia. After retiring from the Internal Revenue Service, Howard served as a Chief Warrant Officer-4, mostly on active duty in he United States Army Reserve. He retired from the United States Army Reserve in April, 1987. Howard and Jane Grayson now reside in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

HORACE RAY GRAYSON (3.5.1.6) is the son of Albert Grayson and Pearl Agnes (Foster) Grayson. Ray and his twin sister, Doris May, were born on June 29, 1931 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. In 1949, Ray joined the United States Navy and served until his retirement in 1969. Most of his naval service was as a member of a nuclear powered submarine crew. Johnnie has worked for Proctor and Gamble for more than thirty-one years and is currently a plant inspector.
On November 10, 1974, Alexander Lex Hamil, III married Cheryl Darlene Johnson. Cheryl was born on November 2, 1952 and is the daughter of Felton Johnson and Katherine Johnson of Macon, Georgia. Cheryl was previously married to Craig Hendricks and they had one son: Robert Kendall Hendricks (born November 10, 1970). Robert Hendricks was adopted by Lex Hamil and his name was changed to Robert Kendall Hamil. Lex and Cheryl Hamil are the parents of three children: - Alexa Darlene Hamil, b. In 1977, Mark received a bachelor of science degree from Shorter College in Rome, Georgia which he attended on an academic scholarship. While at Shorter College, Mark was president of his fraternity and was selected for Whos Who Among American Universities and Colleges. On June 3, 1978, Mark Hamil married Lynn Gilbert in Jacksonville, Florida. Lynn received a bachelor of science degree from Shorter College in 1978. In 1979, Mark received a masters degree in Education at Georgia Southern College in Statesboro, Georgia and an Education Specialist degree from Shorter in 1983. Mark is the supervisor of Special Education in Glynn County, Georgia and Lynn is an accountant for the Jekyll Island, Georgia Authority. Mark is a member of the Georgia Association of School Psychology and the Golden Isles Lions Club. He is featured several times each year in local newspaper articles and speaks to college classes and civic organizations frequently. In January of 1919, Iva Foster married James Martin Benge in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. James was born in 1897 and is the son of David W. Benge and Polly Ann (Gardenhire) Benge. James Martin Benge and his father, David W. Benge, were enumerated on the Final Rolls of the Cherokees by the Dawes Commission in 1902. David (Roll number 3744) was listed as one-half Cherokee Indian and age 32 as of 1902. James (Roll Number 3746) was listed as one-fourth Cherokee Indian and seven years of age as of 1902. They were enumerated in the Sequoyah District, Akins, Indian Territory. James and Iva Benge were the parents of eleven children:

AMBROSE WEBSTER FOSTER (3.5.3) is the son of Oscar David Foster and Virginia (Shelton) Foster. Webb was born on September 29, 1899 in Cecil, Arkansas. On September 26, 1919, Webb Foster married Alice Josephine Mansell in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Alice was born on August 20, 1901 in Booneville, Arkansas and is the daughter of William Markus Mansell and Willie Alzona (Miller) Mansell. Alice had a twin brother. Webb Foster graduated from Rudy Public School in Crawford, Arkansas in May of 1916. He taught school in Atoka, Oklahoma in 1921. Webb was a traveling salesman for the American Tobacco Company for a few years. For most of his life, he was primarily a car salesman. Webb and Alice Foster were the parents of eight children:
