   Willie Olliff (9.2.5), b. 1883, Georgia

ISHAM OLIFF (9.2.1) resided in Georgia.  Isham was born in 1814 in Georgia.  In 1870, Isham Oliff and his wife, Elizabeth Oliff (born 1830 in Georgia), were living in Marion County, Georgia.  This family can not be located anywhere in Georgia (or any other neighboring states) in any other timeframes.  It is believed that this family is probably not releated to the authors and is probably represents a case where the census takers recorded this family as “Oliff” instead of the more common surname, “Olive.”  No “Olliff” family connected to the authors is known to have ever resided in or near Marion County, Georgia.  Isham and Elizabeth Oliff were the parents of at least thirteen children:

   Delia Oliff, b. 1845, Georgia
   Martha Oliff, b. 1847, Georgia
   Sarah Oliff, b. 1851, Georgia
   Lucy Oliff, b. 1852, Georgia
   Willy Oliff, b. 1854, Georgia
   Thomas Oliff, b. 1856, Georgia
   Nancy Oliff, b. 1858, Georgia
   Elizabeth Oliff, b. 1860, Georgia
   John Oliff, b. 1862, Georgia
   Lavina Oliff, b. 1865, Georgia
   Jasona Oliff, b. 1865, Georgia
   James Oliff, b. 1868, Georgia
   George Oliff, b. 1870, Georgia

WILLIAM OLLIFF (9.2.2) resided in Emanuel County, Georgia and is almost certainly related to the authors.  William was born in 1836 in Georgia.  There is a good probability that this is William J. Olliff (1.2.5), son of John Olliff and Elizabeth (Kirkpatrick) Olliff.  Both were born in the 1830’s and both resided in Emanuel County, Georgia.  However, the wife and children are quite different and the ages are different by several years.  There is also a strong possibility that the wife of William Olliff (9.2.2), Mary Olliff (born 1852), is the same Mary E. Olliff (9.2.3).  In 1880, William Olliff and his wife, Mary Olliff (born 1852 in Georgia), were living in Emanuel County, Georgia.  William and Mary Olliff were the parents of two children:

MARY E. OLIFF (9.2.3) resided in Emanuel County, Georgia and is almost certainly related to the authors.  Mary was born on November 19, 1853 in Georgia.  There is a good probability that Mary E. Olliff is the wife of William J. Olliff (1.2.5), son of John Olliff and Elizabeth (Kirkpatrick) Olliff.  There is also a good probability that Mary E. Olliff was the wife of William Olliff (9.2.2) who is believed to be William J. Olliff (1.2.5), son of John Olliff and Elizabeth (Kirkpatrick) Olliff.  The wife of William Olliff (9.2.2), Mary Olliff was born in 1852 in Georgia and this closely matches the birthdate of Mary E. Olliff (9.2.3) who is known to have been born in November, 1853 in Georgia.  According to Claudia Cannady, Daniel B. Cannady and Rebecca (Durden) Cannady were the parents of Mary E. Cannady who married a man named Olliff and that they had one son, Johnny Olliff.  This closely matches the known facts concerning Mary E. Oliff (9.2.3).  Mary’s brother, William Perry Cannady, married Mariah A. Olliff (1.2.2.2).  In 1900, Mary appears to be a widow who married an Oliff and had four children with the surname of Oliff.  In 1900, Mary and her children were living in Emanuel County, Georgia.  Mary Oliff was the mother of four children:

   James W. Oliff, b. February, 1881, Georgia
Bessie Oliff, b. May, 1885, Georgia
Johnie Oliff, b. October, 1888, Georgia
Eddie Oliff, b. April, 1892, Georgia

Mary E. Olliff died on February 15, 1937 and was buried in the Long Creek Church Cemetery in Summertown, Georgia.  According to Claudia Cannady, Johnie Oliff later lived in Savannah, Georgia and Miami, Florida.  According to Claudia Cannady, there was a John Olliff and wife, Willie Olliff, who lived with John’s mother, Mary Olliff, in Savannah Georgia.  According to Claudia Cannady, when John Olliff moved to Florida, his mother returned to Emanuel County, Georgia.

Lillie Olliff, b. October, 1895, Georgia
