JOSEPH OLLIFF (1.4) is the son of John Shears Olliff and Johannah (Jackson) Olliff.  Joseph was born on April 18, 1798 in Georgia.  In 1819, Joseph Olliff married Rebecca Donaldson.  Rebecca was born on October 12, 1796 in Georgia and is the daughter of Robert Donaldson and Peggy (Erwin) Donaldson.  Joseph and Rebecca Olliff were the parents of eight children:

From 1830 to 1860, Joseph and Rebecca Olliff were living in Bulloch County, Georgia.  Rebecca (Donaldson) Olliff died on February 7, 1864 and Joseph Olliff died on July 10, 1865.  In 1860, Owen Olliff was living with David Beasley in Bulloch County, Georgia.  Owen Olliff served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War.  Owen served under Company “C” of the 11th Battalion, Georgia Volunteer Infantry, Army of Tennessee (Bulloch County Guards).  In 1870, Owen Olliff was living with Dianna Parish in Bulloch County, Georgia.  In 1880, Owen Olliff was living with his sister, Mary (Olliff) Akins, in Bulloch County, Georgia.

JAMES OLLIFF (1.4.1) is the son of Joseph Olliff and Rebecca (Donaldson) Olliff.  James was born in 1820 in Georgia.  On October 5, 1847, James Olliff married Mrs. Catherine Ann (Ridgon) Lanier in Bulloch County, Georgia.  Catherine was born in 1815 in Georgia.  Catherine had three children by her previous marriage to Frederick Lanier:  Sarah Lanier (born 1839 in Georgia), Allen Lanier (born 1841 in Georgia) and Olive Hunter Perry Lanier (born 1844 in Georgia).  James and Catherine Olliff were the parents of one son:

   Landnell Olliff, b. 1849, Georgia

Apparently James and Catherine Olliff were separated prior to 1850 as they were both living alone in 1850.  In 1850, James Olliff was living with James and Rebecca Wilkerson in Bulloch County, Georgia.  In 1850, Catharine Olliff was living with her children in Bulloch County, Georgia.  In 1860, James Olliff was living with William A. Brannen in Bulloch County, Georgia.  James Olliff served in Confederate Army.  James served under Company “I” of the 25th Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Corps, Army of Tennessee (Chatham County) known as “Bryan Guards.”  James was discharged on September 3, 1862 as overage.  He apparently then joined Company “I”, 54th Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry, Army of Tennessee (Effingham County).

MATTHEW OLLIFF (1.4.2) is the son of Joseph Olliff and Rebecca (Donaldson) Olliff.  Matthew was born on November 18, 1822 in Georgia.  On December 7, 1844, Matthew Olliff married Elizabeth Brannen in Bulloch County, Georgia.  Elizabeth was born on May 28, 1821 in Georgia and is the daughter of William Brannen and Nancy (Hodges) Brannen.  William’s maternal grandfather was Solomon Gross, a leader of the “Regulators” of colonial North Carolina, a member of the North Carolina House of Commons for Montgomery County in 1779 and a member of the Georgia House of Representatives for Screven County in 1797 and 1798.  Nancy’s grandfathers, Joshua Hodges and William Fletcher were both Revolutionary War veterans.  Matthew and Elizabeth Olliff were the parents of at least six children:

From 1850 to 1860, Matthew and Elizabeth Olliff were living in Bulloch County, Georgia.  Elizabeth (Brannen) Olliff died on July 18, 1862.  On April 30, 1863, Matthew Olliff married a second time to Annie (Jones) Cowart.  Annie was born on October 2, 1842 in Georgia and is the daughter of Thomas Jones and Mary (Lanier) Jones.  Annie was previously married to Isiah Cowart who died.  Annie’s maternal grandfather, Lewis Lanier, was a cornet (officer in the cavalry) in the Revolutionary War from Duplin County, North Carolina.  Matthew and Annie Olliff were the parents of at least six children:

From 1870 to 1880, Matthew and Annie Olliff were living in Bulloch County, Georgia.  Matthew Olliff died on April 11, 1890 and was buried in the Bethlehem Church Cemetery.  In 1900, Annie (Cowart) Olliff was still living in Bulloch County, Georgia.  Annie’s daughter and son-in-law, John and Rebecca Winskie, were living with Annie.  Annie (Jones) Olliff died on July 13, 1915.  Morgan Olliff never married and died on June 30, 1877.  Nathaniel Olliff never married.  Nathaniel Olliff died on May 8, 1894 and was buried in the Akins Cemetery in Bulloch County, Georgia.

MARY LAVENIA OLLIFF (1.4.2.1) is the daughter of Matthew Olliff and Elizabeth (Brannen) Olliff.  Lavenia was born on October 2, 1845 in Bulloch County, Georgia.  On July 31, 1864, Lavenia Olliff married Solomon Akins in Bulloch County, Georgia.  Solomon was born on December 11, 1838 in Bulloch County, Georgia and is the son of Lewis Akins (born 1779 in South Carolina) and Mary (Stanford) Akins (born 1810 in Georgia).  Mary Stanford’s father, John Stanford, was a Revolutionary soldier.  Mary’s brother, William Stanford, married Elizabeth Olliff (1.1).  Mary’s sister, Ann Stanford, married Solomon Brannen and their daughter, Mary Brannen, married Franklin Olliff (1.4.4).  Solomon and Lavenia Akins were the parents of eleven children:

On June 10, 1861, Solomon Akins enlisted in Company “I” of the Ninth Georgia Infantry Regiment, Confederate States of America, a Bulloch County company known as the Toombs Guards.  Solomon was promoted from Private to Third Sergeant in 1862 and then to Junior Second Lieutenant on June 25, 1863.  In October of 1864, he was promoted to Second Lieutenant.  Solomon was one of the few remaining who served until the end of the war and surrendered at Appomattox on April 9, 1865.  From 1870 to 1900, Solomon and Lavenia Akins were living in Bulloch County, Georgia.  Solomon Akins died on April 25, 1907 in Bulloch County, Georgia.  In 1910, Lavenia (Olliff) Akins was living her daughter, Mary (Akins) Olliff, in Bulloch County, Georgia.  In 1930, Lavenia (Olliff) Akins was living her son, Roach Akins, in Bulloch County, Georgia.  Lavenia (Olliff) Akins died on December 6, 1930 in Bulloch County, Georgia.  Both were buried on their family cemetery on their homeplace, three and one-half miles south of Statesboro, Georgia.  Mary Elizabeth Akins married Matthew T. Lewis R. Akins died on October 15, 1891 and was buried in the Akins Cemetery in Bulloch County, Georgia.  In 1910, Maude Akins was living with her sister, Minerva (Akins) Jones, in Bulloch County, Georgia.  Maude Akins died single on March 19, 1923.  Roach Akins never married.  Roach Akins died in May of 1943 and was buried in the Akins Cemetery in Bulloch County, Georgia.  Ruth Akins died as a child of diptheria on December 11, 1904 in Bulloch County, Georgia and was buried there in the Akins Cemetery.

MINERVA PRUELLA AKINS (1.4.2.1.2) is the daughter of Solomon Akins and Mary Lavenia (Olliff) Akins.  Minnie was born on November 19, 1868 in Bulloch County, Georgia.  On January 25, 1888, Minerva Akins married Jimpsey C. Jones (born June 30, 1858 in Georgia) in Bulloch County, Georgia.  Jimpsey and Minnie Jones were the parents of at least three children:

   Frank Jones, b. January 5, 1892, Georgia
   Nellie C. Jones, b. October 19, 1893, Georgia
   Mary Lee Jones, b. September, 1897, Georgia

From 1900 to 1910, Jimpsey and Minnie Jones were living in Bulloch County, Georgia.  Minerva (Akins) Jones died on October 6, 1923 and Jimpsey C. Jones died on September 28, 1924.  Both were buried in the Eastside Cemetery in Statesboro, Georgia.  Frank Jones died as an infant on November 2, 1892 and was buried in the Eastside Cemetery.  Nellie C. Jones died on January 9, 1948 and was buried in the Eastside Cemetery.  Mary Jones married Esten G. Cromarti and they have one daughter:  -  Pruella Cromarti.  Pruella Cromarti married Bob Niver and they have one child:  -  Peddy Niver.

In 1900, 1910 and 1930, James and Jincy Akins were living in Bulloch County, Georgia.  James F. Akins died on April 19, 1941 and Jincy (Olliff) Akins died on February 9, 1945.  Both were buried in the Eastside Cemetery in Statesboro, Georgia.  James and Jincy Akins’ infant daughter died one day after she was born, December 27, 1894 and was buried in the Akins Cemetery in Bulloch County, Georgia.  George W. Akins died as an infant on March 4, 1899 and was buried in the Akins Cemetery in Bulloch County, Georgia.  On April 14, 1920, Camilla Akins married Allen R. Lanier (born 1893 in Georgia) and they had two daughters:  -  Miriam Lanier, b. 1922, Georgia,  -  Martha Evelyn Lanier, b. 1926, Georgia.  Allen R. Lanier died on November 4, 1982.  As of 1983, Camilla (Akins) Lanier was living in Statesboro, Georgia.  Miriam Lanier married Francis Hunter and they have one daughter:  -  Tonya Hunter.  Martha Lanier married Bob Blanchett and they have seven children:  -  Shelia Blanchett,  -  Shea Blanchett,  -  Sherry Blanchett,  -  Shelda Blanchett,  -  Sherice Blanchett,  -  Robert Blanchett,  -  Allen Blanchett.

MATTHEW WINSTON AKINS (1.4.2.1.4) is the son of Solomon Akins and Mary Lavenia (Olliff) Akins.  Matthew was born on August 13, 1870 in Bulloch County, Georgia.  On April 11, 1906, Matthew Akins married Leila Emeline Anderson (born December 27, 1880 in Georgia).  Matthew and Leila Akins were the parents of three children:

   Harry Solomon Akins, b. May 2, 1907, Bulloch County, Georgia
   Edward Akins, b. 1909, Bulloch County, Georgia
   Ernby Akins, b. 1918, Bulloch County, Georgia

From 1910 to 1930, Matthew and Leila Akins were living in Bulloch County, Georgia.  Leila (Anderson) Akins died on July 13, 1941 and Matthew Akins died on February 19, 1956.  Both were buried in the Eastside Cemetery in Bulloch County, Georgia.  Harry S. Akins died on May 29, 1942 and was buried in the Eastside Cemetery in Statesboro, Georgia.  Emily Akins married Ray Malecki and they have one daughter:  -  Mary Ann Malecki.

WILLIAM HARRISON AKINS (1.4.2.1.5) is the son of Solomon Akins and Mary Lavenia (Olliff) Akins.  William was born on May 9, 1873 in Bulloch County, Georgia.  On March 13, 1900, William Harrison Akins married Della Hendrix in Statesboro, Georgia.  Della was born on September 9, 1882 in Bryan County, Georgia and is the daughter of John Malcolm Hendrix and Louisa Victoria (Campbell) Hendrix.  Della’s sister, Josephine Gertrude Hendrix, married William Akins’ cousin, Benjamin Hill Olliff (1.4.4.13).  William and Della Akins were the parents of seven children:

In 1900, William and Della Akins were living with William’s parents in Bulloch County, Georgia.  From 1910 to 1930, William and Della Akins were living in Bulloch County, Georgia.  William H. Akins died on August 12, 1933 in Statesboro, Georgia and Della (Hendrix) Akins died on May 20, 1965 in Savannah, Georgia.  Both were buried in the Langston Methodist Church Cemetery in Bulloch County, Georgia.  On December 30, 1920, Mary Akins married LaCount Smith (born October 28, 1895) in Statesboro, Georgia and they had two children:  -  Brunelle Smith, b. September 21, 1922, d. December 17, 1924,  -  Sara Ruth Smith.  Mary (Akins) Smith died on February 20, 1976 and was buried in the Langston Methodist Church Cemetery.  Sara Ruth Smith married John Hendrix.  Sara Ruth married a second time to John Cook and they have one child:  -  Brunell Cook.  Lewis Akins married Vera Shess in New York and they had two children:  -  Lewis Akins, Jr.,  -  Audrey Akins.  Lewis R. Akins died on September 13, 1975 and was buried in the Langston Methodist Church Cemetery in Bulloch County, Georgia.  Lewis Akins, Jr. married Dorothy Grady and they have two children:  -  Christopher Robin Akins,  -  Andrew Timothy Akins.  Audrey Akins married Frank Mayhood and they have two children:  -  Michael Mayhood,  -  Frances Irene Mayhood.

On November 11, 1930, Ruth Akins married Hugh Martin and they had one son:  -  Michael Martin.  Ruth married a second time to Harry W. Clayton.  Solomon Akins was a merchant seaman who “just disappeared.”  James Akins married Neta Aldridge and they had two children:  -  Billy Akins,  -  Ruth Frances Akins.  James Akins served in the United States Army during World War II.  James F. Akins died on April 2, 1977 and was buried in the Langston Methodist Church Cemetery in Bulloch County, Georgia.  Matthew Akins married Ruth Cubbage and they had three children:  -  Matthew Akins, Jr.,  -  Winston Akins,  -  Nancy Ruth Akins.  William and Della Akins’ last child died as an infant.

JULIA SOPHRONIA AKINS (1.4.2.1.6) is the daughter of Solomon Akins and Mary Lavenia (Olliff) Akins.  Julia was born on April 30, 1875 in Bulloch County, Georgia.  On September 15, 1893, Julia Akins married Joshua O. “Jot” Franklin in Bulloch County, Georgia.  Joshua was born on January 11, 1871 in Bulloch County, Georgia and is the son of Hiram Franklin and Jane “Jincy” (Everett) Franklin.  Joshua and Julia Franklin were the parents of at least two children:

From 1900 to 1910, Joshua and Julia Franklin were living in Bulloch County, Georgia.  Julia (Akins) Franklin died of tuberculosis on November 26, 1912 in Candler County, Georgia and was buried in the Lake Church Cemetery.  On January 18, 1914, Joshua O. Franklin married a second time to Carrie Boyd, daughter of J. P. Boyd.  Joshua Franklin died on January 8, 1918 in Candler County, Georgia and was buried in the Lake Church Cemetery.  Lillian Franklin married a Mr. Fitzgerald.  Lillian also married Cyrus Broadhurst and they had three children:  -  Cyrus Broadhurst, Jr.,  -  Bill Broadhurst,  -  Dudley Broadhurst.  Willie Franklin never married.  Willie Franklin died of “heart trouble” on July 20, 1925 and was buried in the Lake Church Cemetery in Candler County, Georgia.

MAXIE E. AKINS (1.4.2.1.8) is the daughter of Solomon Akins and Mary Lavenia (Olliff) Akins.  Maxie was born on March 11, 1881 in Bulloch County, Georgia.  On September 13, 1899, Maxie Akins married Samuel Alexander Hall in Bulloch County, Georgia.  Samuel was born on September 20, 1876 in Bulloch County, Georgia and is the son of William Nathaniel Hall and Martha (Mikell) Hall.  Samuel and Maxie Hall were the parents of three children:

In 1900, Samuel and Maxie Hall were living in Bulloch County, Georgia.  Maxie (Akins) Hall died of typhoid on June 8, 1905 and was buried in the Eastside Cemetery in Statesboro, Georgia.  Samuel Hall died on April 4, 1950.  On November 19, 1927, Mamie Hall married James Charlesworth Porritt of Shanghai, China.  James was born on September 14, 1892 and is the son of George F. Porritt and Ann (Demaine) Porritt.  James was formerly of Bradford, England.  In October of 1960, Ella Hall married Walter J. Winquist of Washington, District of Columbia.  Ella (Hall) Winquist died on February 21, 1971.  William N. Hall died as an infant on January 2, 1906 and was buried in the Eastside Cemetery in Statesboro, Georgia.
