BENJAMIN SHEARS OLLIFF (1.3) is the son of John Shears Olliff and Johannah (Jackson) Olliff.  According to “History of Georgia,” Benjamin was born on January 23, 1794 in Georgia.  It further states that he moved to Dooly County, Georgia in 1828, settling in the vicinity of Montezuma.  Benjamin Olliff was a minister of the Methodist church.  On September 24, 1815, Benjamin Olliff married Elizabeth Turner of Hancock County, Georgia.  Elizabeth was born on March 22, 1800 in Georgia and is the daughter of William Turner.  Benjamin and Elizabeth Olliff were the parents of at least eleven children:

In 1820, Benjamin and Elizabeth Olliff were living in Wilkinson County, Georgia.  Around 1828, Benjamin and Elizabeth Olliff moved to Dooly County, Georgia.  From 1840 to 1850, Benjamin and Elizabeth Olliff were living in Dooly County, Georgia.  Benjamin Olliff died on May 14, 1856 in Dooly County, Georgia.  In 1860, Elizabeth (Turner) Olliff and her two daughters (Elizabeth and Martha Olliff) were living next to her son, Zadock Olliff, in Brooks County, Georgia.  Elizabeth (Turner) Olliff died on April 21, 1862.  In 1870, Elizabeth C. Olliff was living next to her brother, Zadock Olliff, in Brooks County, Georgia.  In 1880, Elizabeth Olliff was living with her brother, Zadock Olliff, in Brooks County, Georgia.  Elizabeth Olliff never married.  Elizabeth Olliff died on December 22, 1907 and was buried in the Concord Cemetery located four miles north of Quitman, Georgia.

Susannah Olliff lived with her brother, Zadock Olliff, for a number of years.  She later lived with Andrew Treadaway’s family for around eight years after the death of Andrew’s wife, Susan (Folsom) Treadaway, who was Susannah’s niece.  She cared for Andrew’s children and served as a housekeeper during the children’s formitive years.  In 1870, Susan Olliff was living with her sister, Mary (Olliff) Folsom, in Brooks County, Georgia.  During her later years, Susannah lived with Christopher and Lizzie Bozeman.  Susannah Olliff never married.  Susannah Olliff died on February 25, 1909 and was buried next to her sister, Elizabeth Olliff, in the Concord Cemetery.  During the Civil War, Margaret “Eveline” Olliff went to help neighbors who had smallpox and contracted the disease.  Margaret Eveline Olliff died of smallpox and her body was carried out at night for burial, for fear of causing panic among the populace.  Nancy Olliff died as a teenager on February 28, 1851.

JOHN TURNER OLLIFF (1.3.1) is the son of Benjamin Shears Olliff and Elizabeth (Turner) Olliff.  John was born on January 13, 1818 in Georgia.  Around 1845, John Olliff moved to Louisiana.  On June 2, 1850, John Olliff married his cousin, Martha Turner, in Sabine Parish, Louisiana.  Martha was born in 1826 in Louisiana and is the daughter of Alexander Turner (born 1800 in South Carolina) and Rutha (Carey) Turner (born 1800 in Georgia).  Around 1845, John and Martha Olliff moved to near Marthaville, Louisiana.  John was a carpenter.  John and Martha Olliff were the parents of seven children:

From 1860 to 1870, John and Martha Olliff were living in Sabine Parish, Louisiana.  John Olliff died prior to 1880 as Martha was living in Sabine Parish, Louisiana with only her children (Susan, John and Joseph) in 1880.  Martha (Turner) Olliff died prior to 1888 and is believed to be buried in Marthaville, Louisiana.  On November 6, 1873, Martha Olliff married Charles J. Law (born May of 1851 in Georgia) in Sabine Parish, Louisiana.  Charles and Martha Law had no children.  From 1880 to 1910, Charles and Martha Law were living in Sabine Parish, Louisiana.  Susan Olliff died young.  Joseph Olliff died young.

MARY ANN OLLIFF (1.3.1.1) is the daughter of John Turner Olliff and Martha (Turner) Olliff.  Mary was born on July 29, 1850 in Sabine Parish, Louisiana.  In 1878, Mary Ann Olliff married Charles Constable (born November 17, 1847 in Louisiana) and lived in Sabine Parrish, Louisiana.  Charles and Mary Constable were the parents of nine children:

Constable died on December 21, 1912 and was buried in the Pisgah Cemetery.  From 1910 to 1920, Thomas Constable and his wife, Sallie Constable (born 1883 in Louisiana), were living in Sabine Parish, Louisiana.  Thomas J. Constable died on January 20, 1941 and was buried in the Pisgah Cemetery.  James E. VIRGINIA CAROLYN OLLIFF (1.3.1.5) is the daughter of John Turner Olliff and Martha (Turner) Olliff.  Virginia was born on October 1, 1861 in Sabine Parish, Louisiana.  On May 1, 1879, Virginia Olliff married Francis Victor Floyd in Sabine Parish, Louisiana.  Francis was born on August 22, 1858 in Amite County, Mississippi.  Francis and Virginia Floyd farmed in western Louisiana.  Francis and Virginia Floyd were the parents of eleven children:

January 5, 1949.  Maude Floyd was killed by lightning when she was young.  On February 18, 1918, Frances Floyd married John Pickney Hemphill (born June 24, 1883 in Winn Parish, Louisiana).  John and Frances Hemphill had two children:  -  Juanita Hemphill, b. December 23, 1918, Winn Parish, Louisiana,  -  unnamed infant daughter.  John Hemphill died on May 24, 1955.  Juanita Hemphill married Dewey Keen (born January 5, 1898) and they had one child:  -  unnamed infant son.

ULYSSES S. GRANT FLOYD (1.3.1.5.11) is the son of Francis Victor Floyd and Virginia Carolyn (Olliff) Floyd.  Ulis was born on September 7, 1901 in Winn Parish, Louisiana.  On May 16, 1922, Ulis Floyd married Eliza Jane Ford (born October 31, 1900).  Ulis was a State Trooper and Eliza taught school.  Ulis and Eliza Floyd were the parents of three children:

   Cathaleen Floyd, b. April 24, 1924, Jena, Louisiana
   Ronald Floyd (twin), b. October 21, 1926, Jena, Louisiana
   Donald Floyd (twin), b. October 21, 1926, Jena, Louisiana

Ulis Floyd was killed on February 24, 1952 by two men for no apparent reason.  His son, Donald, attempted to stop the two gunmen after his father was shot and he too was killed.  This tragic event occured around midnight at Ulis’ home in Jena, Louisiana.  Cathaleen Floyd married James Edward Melton and they have one son:  -  James Edward Melton, Jr., b. December, 1950.  Ronald Floyd married Eleanor McDerrott and they have three children:  -  Ronald Edmund Floyd, b. November 22, 1953,  -  Georgia Louise Floyd, b.
