JAMES THOMAS BRYAN (2.3) is son of Samuel Bryan, Sr. (2) and Margaret (Morrow) Bryan. A 1947 letter from Cornelia (Moore) Redfield states that Samuel Bryan and his brother, James Bryan came to Tennessee from North Carolina. This is substantiated by Humphreys County, Tennessee which states that the Bryans came to Tennessee from North Carolina. It further states that James Bryan was born December 1, 1799 in North Carolina and that James married Sarah Richards or Richardsons. A 1950 letter from Claude Stephenson states that his mother has been told by her people that her grandfather, James Bryan, had a brother by the name of Samuel Bryan. It further states the following information comes from Mothers Family Bible: James Bryan, departed this life, August 10, 1846, aged 46 years, 8 months and 10 days. Sally Bryan, departed this life, July 10, 1861, aged 61 years, 7 months and 10 days. This means that both James and Sally were born on the same day, December 1, 1799. According to a family group sheet by Martha (Mobley) McGill, James Thomas Bryan was born on December 1, 1799 in North Carolina. James and Sarah Bryan were the parents of at least nine children:

James owned 190 acres valued at $1,800. According to Maury County Chancery Court Records, James Bryan, Sr. died on September 18, 1846. A 1947 letter from Cornelia (Moore) Redfield states that James died on August 10, 1846 at Little Lot, Tennessee and was buried in the cemetery there. In 1850, Sarah Bryant and her children were living in Maury County, Tennessee. A 1947 letter from Cornelia (Moore) Redfield states that Sarah died July 10, 1861 at Little Lot, Tennessee and was buried in the cemetery there.
James R. Bryan married and had one son. James R. Bryan died prior to 1885. Samuel Bryan died prior to 1885 and left no children. On March 18, 1852, Nancy J. Sarah Bryan married C. Hughes. On January 9, 1867, a Sarah Bryant married a Charles M. Hughes in Maury County, Tennessee. It is not known if this refers to Sarah Bryan, daughter of James and Sarah Bryan. On July 12, 1857, Tennessee Bryan married William B. McCord in Maury County, Tennessee.

Willie stuck a nail in her heel and died of blood poisoning on a visit to her sister, Lou (Heel) Vaden, in Obion County, Tennessee and was buried there. George Heel married Ethel Turner (sister to Bryan Turner who married Laura Johnson) and they had one daughter: - Frances Heel. George Heel died on March 13, 1928. Ollie Bell Heel was secretly married to George Hillman Page. Ollie (Heel) Page died on March 8, 1915 and was buried in the Bryant Cemetery in Humphreys County, Tennessee. Robert Heel died in the early 1950s and was buried in Detroit, Michigan.

In September of 1919, Annie Louise Stephenson married Joe William Lovell and they had one daughter who is a medical doctor. Pauline Stephenson died as a child in 1898. Frances Elizabeth Stephenson never married.
