JOHN WESLEY BROOKS (2.16) is the son of Jordan Brooks (1) and Mary (Jackson) Brooks.  John was born on February 4, 1822 in Georgia.  On November 29, 1848, John Wesley Brooks married Elizabeth Mizell in Talbot County, Georgia.  Elizabeth was born on September 6, 1830 in North Carolina.  In 1850, Wesley and Elizabeth Brooks were living in Bienville Parish, Louisiana.  John and Elizabeth Brooks were the parents of four children:

   John Wesley Brooks, Jr. (2.16.2), b. February, 1852, Louisiana
   Asbury Quitman Brooks (2.16.3), b. September, 1854, Louisiana

From 1860 to 1900, John and Elizabeth Brooks were living in Jackson Parish, Louisiana.  John Wesley Brooks, Sr. died on May 25, 1901 and was buried in the Brooks Chapel Cemetery located two miles west of Quitman, Louisiana.  In 1910, Elizabeth (Mizell) Brooks was living with her son, Quitman Brooks, in Jackson Parish, Louisiana.  Elizabeth (Mizell) Brooks died on March 1, 1914 and was also buried in the Brooks Chapel Cemetery.

JOHN WESLEY BROOKS, JR. (2.16.2) is the son of John Wesley Brooks and Elizabeth (Mizell) Brooks.  John was born in February of 1852 in Louisiana.  John Brooks was the father of four children by his first marriage:

On June 13, 1880, John Brooks married a second time in Jackson Parish to Sallie L. (Carr) Waldrip (born March, 1859 in Louisiana).  From 1880 to 1920, John and Sallie Brooks were living in Jackson Parish, Louisiana.  John and Sallie Brooks were the parents of seven children:

   James Garfield Brooks, b. June, 1881, Jackson Parish, Louisiana

Sallie (Carr) Brooks had two children by her previous marriage:  Cora Waldrip (born 1877) and James D. “Buster” Waldrip (born 1878).  John Wesley Brooks, Jr. died in 1935 and Sallie (Carr) Brooks died in 1935.  Both were buried in the Brooks Chapel Cemetery near Quitman, Louisiana.  Lula Brooks married Cage White and they had no children.  In 1910, Garfield Brooks was living with Martin L. Campbell in Jackson Parish, Lousiana.  Garfield Brooks and his wife, Artie, lived in San Antonio, Texas and they had one daughter:  -  Maurine Brooks, b. February 9, 1915.  Garfield Brooks died in 1934 and was buried in the Brooks Chapel Cemetery near Quitman, Louisiana.  Maurine Brooks first married Gordon Palmer and they had one daughter:  -  Linda Palmer who married a Mr. Besherio.  Maurine married a second time to L. C. Mosel.  Maurine (Brooks) Mosel died on January 12, 1982.  In 1910, Hardy Brooks was living with Martin L. Campbell in Jackson Parish, Lousiana.  Hardy Brooks married Ola Thrift (born 1893 in Louisiana) and they had no children.  In 1920, Hardy and Ola Brooks were living in Jackson Parish, Lousiana.  Hardy Brooks died on February 12, 1939 and was buried in the Brooks Chapel Cemetery near Quitman, Louisiana.  Lambert Brooks married Ola Smelley.  Lambert Brooks died in 1945.  As of 1983, Mrs. Lambert Brooks was living in Ruston, Louisiana.  Maxa Brooks married Billy Townson.

WILLIAM WESLEY BROOKS (2.16.2.2) is the son of John Wesley Brooks, Jr.  “Bud” was born in 1876 in Louisiana.  Bud Brooks married Rosie Belle Johnson and they had nine children:

Bud Brooks was buried in the City Cemetery in Ruston, Louisiana.  Dennis Brooks first married Mildred McDaniel and they had no children.  As of 1983, Dennis Brooks and his second wife, Margaret, were living in Ruston, Louisiana.  Baxter Brooks married Elsie McEnnis and they had one son:  -  Aubrey Edwin Brooks.  Irma Brooks married Byron Bascom and they had no children.  As of 1983, Irma (Brooks) Bascom was living in Ruston, Louisiana.  Norma Brooks never married.  On September 26, 1948, Iva Dene Brooks married John Wesley Peret in Shreveport, Louisiana and they are the parents of one son:  -  Michael Dennis Peret, b. June 11, 1949, Dallas, Texas.  As of 1983, John Wesley and Iva Dene Peret were living in Dallas, Texas.

Kermit Brooks was killed in a plane crash while serving in the Navy during World War II.  Kermit Brooks was never married.  Vonnice Brooks married J. M. “Mac” Alexandra and they had one son:  -  Joel Malcom Alexandra.  As of 1983, Vonnice was living in Ruston, Louisiana.  Cloma Brooks married Russell G. Ray and they had two children:  -  Paula Jean Ray,  -  Russell G. “Rusty” Ray, Jr.  As of 1983, Cloma was living in Monroe, Louisiana.  Shirley Brooks married George Maddox and they had one daughter:  -  Shirley Ann Maddox.  As of 1983, Shirley was living in Ruston, Louisiana.

ASBURY QUITMAN BROOKS (2.16.3) is the son of John Wesley Brooks and Elizabeth (Mizell) Brooks.  Quitman was born in September of 1854 in Louisiana.  In 1880, Quitman was living with his parents in Jackson Parish, Louisiana.  On February 14, 1884, Quitman Brooks married Nancy Jane McConathy (born October 28, 1862 in Louisiana) in Jackson Parish, Louisiana.  In 1900, 1910 and 1920, Quitman and Nancy Brooks were living in Jackson Parish, Louisiana and they were the parents of at least eleven children:

Brooks died on January 8, 1886 and was buried in the Brooks Chapel Cemetery.  Rocksie Brooks married Will McCullah and they live in Florida.  Claude Brooks died on December 15, 1891 and was buried in the Brooks Chapel Cemetery.  Ode Brooks married and had one son:  -  Ralph Brooks.  Benjamin Brooks married and has four children, including one daughter who married Richard Scott Dawson.  Benjamin Brooks died on July 10, 1972.  Isham Brooks died on March 17, 1963.

JAMES JOSEPH BROOKS (2.16.3.3) is the son of Asbury Quitman Brooks and Nancy Jane (McConathy) Brooks.  James was born on June 27, 1887 in Jackson Parish, Louisiana.  James Brooks married Rila Beatty (born June 17, 1886 in Louisiana).  James and Rila Brooks were the parents of five children:

Brooks, Sr. died of skin cancer on June 18, 1907.  From 1910 to 1920, Fannie (Waldrop) Brooks was living in Van Zandt County, Texas.  In 1930, Fannie (Waldrop) Brooks was living with her daughter, Zilla (Brooks) Wilder.  Fannie (Waldrop) Brooks died on May 20, 1951.  Both were buried in the Small Cemetery north of Edgewood, Texas.  Minnie Brooks died on August 25, 1900 and was buried in the Brooks Chapel Cemetery near Quitman, Louisiana.  Virgil Brooks never married and died of typhoid at the age of twenty-one.  Virgil Brooks was buried in the Small Cemetery.  Roy Brooks died at the age of ten years and was buried in the Small Cemetery.  On September 11, 1935, Sally Brooks married Daniel Wallace Mittel in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Dan is the son of Jacob B. Mittel and Elizabeth (Peters) Mittel of Fredericksburg, Texas.  Dan and Sally Mittel have no children.  As of 1983, Dan and Sally Mittel were living in Dallas, Texas.  Deward Brooks married Pansy Lawler and they had one son:  -  Mike Brooks.  As of 1983, Deward E. Brooks was living in Athens, Texas.

From 1910 to 1920, Jason and Ollie Brooks were living in Jackson Parish, Louisiana.  Herman Brooks had no children and was killed during World War II.  On February 15, 1939, T. L. Brooks married Arlene Phillips in Quitman, Louisiana and they have four children:  -  T. L. Brooks, Jr., b. September 28, 1940,  -  Linda Sue Brooks, b. August 26, 1948,  -  Carolyn Jo Brooks, b. WILLIAM ARTHUR BROOKS (2.16.4.2) is the son of Jason Nathan Jackson Brooks and Frances Elsa (Waldrop) Brooks.  W. A. was born in October of 1882 in Louisiana.  On December 21, 1908, William Arthur Brooks married Etta Ann Caro.  Etta was born in 1893 in Van Zandt County, Texas and is the daughter of David Franklin Caro and Jane (Pickersimon) Caro.  William and Etta Brooks were the parents of three children:

   Neal Brooks, b. 1919, Edgewood, Texas
   Nadine Brooks, b. 1926, Edgewood, Texas
   Ben Brooks, b. Edgewood, Texas

From 1910 to 1930, William and Etta Brooks were living in Van Zandt County, Texas.  For over fifty years, W. A. Brooks was active in the cotton gin business, operating gin plants in Edgewood, Wills Point, Phalba and Fruitvale.  He also owned a feed store, gristmill and grocery store.  At the end of World War II, he built the Edgewood Milling Company and the garment factory.  He served on the Edgewood City Council, the Board of Trustees for the Edgewood Schools and the Edgewood Chamber of Commerce.  In 1978, W. A. and Etta Brooks celebrated their seventieth wedding anniversary.  Neil Brooks and his wife, Julie, live near Grand Saline, Texas.  Nadine Brooks married Gerald Johnson and they live in Edgewood, Texas.

MARY ELIZABETH BROOKS (2.16.4.3) is the daughter of Jason Nathan Jackson Brooks and Frances Elsa (Waldrop) Brooks.  Mittie was born on October 21, 1884 in Louisiana.  Mittie Brooks first married John Kennedy and they had one son:

   Newton Kennedy

Mittie later married M. W. VanDeuson and they lived in Dallas, Texas.  Newton Kennedy married Frances Lunsford and they had two children:  -  Susie Kennedy,  -  John Kennedy.  As of 1983, Susie Kennedy was living in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Huddleston in Edgewood, Texas.  In 1910, Eli and Cora Brooks were living in Van Zandt County, Texas.  Eli and Cora Brooks were the parents of one son:

Eli and Alma Brooks operated a grocery store in Edgewood, Texas.  Eli Franklin Brooks, Sr. died on August 10, 1970.  As of 1983, Alma (Bunch) Brooks was living in Edgewood, Texas.  In 1955, Eli Franklin Brooks, Jr. married Edith Blagburn in Edgewood, Texas and they have two children:  -  Janet Elaine Brooks, b. January 7, 1957,  -  Steven Dale Brooks, b. November 30, 1960.  Eli Brooks, Jr. was a mortician.  Eli Brooks, Jr. died on January 27, 1978 and as of 1983, Edith (Blagburn) Brooks was living in Edgewood, Texas.  In March of 1980, Janet Brooks married Wayne Yniguez.  Janet is a school teacher in Mesquite, Texas and Wayne is an insurance underwriter in Dallas, Texas.  Steve Brooks is a student at the University of Texas, Arlington.

KENNETH A. “SAM” BROOKS (2.16.4.4.1) is the son of Eli Franklin Brooks and Cora E. (Huddleston) Brooks.  Kenneth “Sam” Brooks was born on September 6, 1917 in Texas.  On July 17, 1940, Kenneth Brooks married Martha Ellen Blalack (born March 23, 1923) in Dallas, Texas.  Kenneth and Martha Brooks have two children:

   Michael Brooks, b. December 6, 1944

Kenneth Brooks died on August 5, 1980 and as of 1983, Martha (Blalack) Brooks runs Fashion Lamps in Dallas, Texas.  Barbara Brooks married Donald Fairfield and they have two children:  -  Karen Fairfield,  -  Steven Fairfield.  As of 1983, Don and Barbara Fairfield live in Lanham, Maryland where Don is a nuclear physicist and Barbara is a family counselor.  Mike Brooks lives in San Francisco, California.

ALLIECE YVONNE BROOKS (2.16.4.4.2) is the daughter of Eli Franklin Brooks and Alma (Bunch) Brooks.  Yvonne was born on April 22, 1924 in Edgewood, Texas.  On August 9, 1947, Yvonne Brooks married Alphens Edwin Forsman in Nurnberg, Germany.  Alphens and Yvonne Forsman are the parents of eight children:

Alliece (Brooks) Forsman died on April 11, 1998 and was buried in the Veteran’s section of the Sunnywood Gardens Cemetery in Grand Forks, North Dakota.  Don Forsman is a student at the University of North Dakota.  Anita Forsman is a personnel manager for Oxford Ind. in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Nels Forsman is a geologist at the University of North Dakota.  Robert Forsman is an auditor for Shell Oil in Martinez, California.  In June of 1975, Linda Forsman married Rodney Ault and they have two children:  -  Ryan Christopher Ault, b. March 22, 1981,  -  Tyler Jonathan Ault, b. November 10, 1982.  Rodney Ault is a hardware representative in Denver, Colorado.  In 1974, Christine Forsman married Martin Fritz and they have two children:  -  Mark Louis Fritz, b. March, 1975,  -  Paul Martin Fritz, b. February, 1977.  Martin is a Sergeant in the United States Air Force in Grand Forks, North Dakota.  Allan Forsman is a student at the University of North Dakota.

DOSSIE BROOKS (2.16.4.5) is the daughter of Jason Nathan Jackson Brooks and Frances Elsa (Waldrop) Brooks.  Dossie was born in April 24, 1888 in Louisiana.  Dossie Brooks married Ed Wade (born 1882 in Louisiana).  Ed and Dossie Wade were the parents of four daughters:

   Mabel Wade, b. 1911, Texas
   Mildred Wade, b. 1916, Texas
   Pan Joan Wade, b. 1921, Texas

In 1930, Ed and Dossie Wade were living in Van Zandt County, Texas.  Esther Mae Wade married Gus Hooks and they have no children.  Gus and Esther Mae Wade live near Edgewood, Texas.  Mabel Wade married L. M. Jones and they have one daughter:  -  Paneti Jones who married a Mr. Gregory.  Mabel and her daughter, Paneti, both live in Farmers Branch, Texas.  Mildred Wade married Clyde Lantrip and they have no children.  Joan Wade married Bill Curtis and they have one son:  -  Craig Curtis who lives in Richardson, Texas.

DONGUE WALDROP BROOKS (2.16.4.9) is the son of Jason Nathan Jackson Brooks and Frances Elsa (Waldrop) Brooks.  Don was born on January 23, 1898 in Jonesboro, Louisiana.  On September 24, 1916, Don Brooks married Lola Mae Bunch in Van Zandt County, Texas.  Lola was born in 1902 in Texas.  Lola is a sister of Alma Bunch who married Don’s brother, Eli Brooks.  Don and Lola Brooks were the parents of three children:

Brooks married Blanche M. Jackson and they have one daughter:  -  Glendeen Brooks, b. 1939.  A. P. Brooks was produce manager for Safeway Stores for 37 years in Dallas, Texas.  As of 1983, A. P. and Blanche Brooks live in Tyler, Texas.  Glendeen Brooks married John F. Spencer in Oklahoma and they have four children:  -  Glen L. Spencer,  -  Leslie Spencer,  -  Dewayne Spencer,  -  Tangie Spencer.  John Spencer is a school teacher in Trinidad, Texas.

In 1947, Marcelle Brooks married Truman Roberts in Dallas, Texas and they have three children:  -  Don Steven Roberts, b. June 23, 1949,  -  Paul Eric Roberts, b. July 17, 1954,  -  John Truman Roberts, b. July 14, 1958.  As of 1983, Truman Roberts was a rancher living in Wills Point, Texas.  Don Roberts is bank loan officer and is married.  Paul Roberts married Melanie Gandy in Houston, Texas and they have two children:  -  Benjamin Roberts,  -  Anna Ruth Roberts.  As of 1983, Paul Roberts was living in Grand Saline, Texas.

Mary Virginia Brooks married Billy Gene Foster and they have two children:  -  Judy Suzanne Foster,  -  Mary Jean Foster.  As of 1983, Billy Foster was living in Edgewood, Texas.  Judy Foster married Homer Heidle and they have two children:  -  Homer Houghton Heidle, Jr.,  -  Jared Heidle.  Judy is a nurse (LPN) and Homer is an electrician and as of 1983, they live in Magnolia, Arkansas.  Mary Jean Foster married Tommy Lee Dean and they have one son:  -  Dustin Ryan Dean.  Mary Jean is a school teacher and Tommy is a landscape architect, rancher and is a fireman in Richardson, Texas.  As of 1983, Tommy Dean was living in Wills Point, Texas.

ZILLA CORELLA BROOKS (2.16.4.10) is the daughter of Jason Nathan Jackson Brooks and Frances Elsa (Waldrop) Brooks.  Zilla was born in December 22, 1899 in Louisiana.  In September of 1916, Zilla Brooks married Jesse Floyd Wilder in Small, Texas.  Jake was born on December 19, 1897 in Texas and is the son of William Nelson Wilder (born 1863 in Tennessee) and Summerfield Wilder.  Jake and Zilla Wilder had four daughters:

   Dana Beth Wilder, b. April 24, 1924, Texas

In 1930, Jessie and Zilla Wilder were living in Van Zandt County, Texas.  Jake Wilder was an automobile mechanic and operated a service station in Edgewood, Texas for over forty years.  Jake was mayor of Edgewood and served as a member of the Edgewood Chamber of Commerce and the Edgewood Board of Trustees for the Edgewood Schools.  Jake Wilder died on July 17, 1960 and was buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery.  As of 1983, Zilla (Brooks) Wilder was living in Edgewood, Texas.  In 1936, Grace Wilder married E. C. Parker and they had one child:  -  Bobby Brooks Parker.  E. C. Parker died in 1973.  As of 1983, Grace was living with her mother in Edgewood, Texas.  Dorothea Lee Wilder died on July 15, 1922 in Edgewood, Texas.  In 1942, Dana Beth Wilder married Franes Reginald Redfern, Jr. in New York City, New York and they have three children:  -  Richard Wilder Redfern,  -  Franes Reginald Redfern, III,  -  Allen Randolph Redfern.  “Reg” and Dana Beth live fifteen miles south of Tyler, Texas.  In 1945, Lady Juan Wilder married William M. Wright and they have two children:  -  Billie Blanche Wright,  -  Michael Lee Wright.  William Wright was a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army and died in 1971.

ALICE M. BROOKS (2.16.4.13) is the daughter of Jason Nathan Jackson Brooks and Frances Elsa (Waldrop) Brooks.  Alice was born on November 21, 1906 in Texas.  Alice Brooks married Charles Rohrer and they had two daughters:

   Sally Rohrer, b. January 5, 1948

Alecia Rohrer married Herman Keith and they had no children.  Alecia and Herman were divorced and Alecia lives in Austin, Texas.  Sally Rohrer married Robert Nolen and they have two children:  -  Charles Robert Nolen,  -  Russell Lloyd Nolen.  Robert and Sally Nolen live in Round Rock, Texas.
